Other Little Ships 10

"Mark 4:40, "And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful?
How is it that ye have no faith?
41.  And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"

Did the disciples have faith? The scriptures says, "how is it that ye have no faith?"  The disciples had faith, but no faith for this storm.

But even if the disciples had faith for the storm, would there have still been a storm?  I believe there would have still been a storm.

If the disciples had faith for the storm, would they have called out for Jesus sooner?  I believe that they would have.

I believe that if they had faith for the storm, they would have awoken Jesus sooner to ride the storm out with them, or to still the waters sooner, but pride is an awful thing.  They were still trying to sail the ship on their own.

Can you sense the spiritual implication here?

They really didn't want to wake Jesus up and for Him to find out that they were in a situation that they could not get out of on their own.

After all, Peter and John and James were great fishermen and they had been out on this sea many times in similar circumstances and they didn't need the Lord.

And they really didn't want those in the "other little ships" to see them sweat.

Here they were again, out on the same sea that they had navigated alone before, the same sea that used to bring them a good living.  The same sea that they thought they had mastered on their own.

Does any of this sound like a similar experience in our own life?

They really didn't think they needed Jesus, because they had been there before. They thought they could withstand the storm on their own.

They thought they could contend with the storm without any help.

They thought they could ride out any storm on their own.

But when the ship was full and they had lost their pride and they knew their was no other way, they became fearful.  They became fearful, not just because they did not trust God, but also because they did not use good judgment and get God involved in their situation early in their dilemma.

Why do so many people wait until they completely mess things up before they ask for help?
Do you know why they were fearful?  They were fearful because they let their arrogance and pride almost take them to the point of death before they would even call on His name.

They were fearful, because they tried to ride out the storm on their own.  They had a reason to fear.  Had it not been for the presence of God, they would have all perished for foolishness.

Isn’t it that way for us too?
How full will you let your ship get before you cry out to God?

Why is this so important?  Because you want to learn from the Word of God every truth can keep you free from fear and faithlessness, not just for yourself, but for all the other little ships that are counting on your faith at this time.

Other Little Ships 9

"Those in the "other little ships" were also positively affected by those in the ship with the Lord.  When Jesus calmed the storm for those who asked, He calmed the storm for those surrounding them as well.

When Jesus calms the storms in your life, He calms the storm in your extended family too.  Your friends and your acquaintances, those in your workplace and those in whom you run into in the grocery store all receive a blessing when you are blessed.

When God moves on your behalf, those in the other little ships receive from your blessing.

Jesus stopped the storm.
He calmed the waters.
All benefitted from the hand of God.
But not without rebuke.  Not without a lesson.

Mark 4:40
40.    And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful?
How is it that ye have no faith?
41.  And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"

Other Little Ships 8

"Mark 4:39
 39.  And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

If Jesus calls you to cross over to the other side - If Jesus calls you to go anywhere - If Jesus calls you to anything -
He is going to get you there.
He is going to show Himself mighty on your behalf.
He is going to put an end to the stress and the turmoil.
He is going to bring peace to the situation.
He is going to still the waters that are so stirred up.
There will be a great calm.

This whole story is about learning to trust God in it and through it, but there's more.

When did Jesus take care of the storm?
Was it while the disciples were trying to act like there wasn't a storm?
Was it while the disciples were manning the ship and crossing the sea on their own?
Was it when they first started to get wet?
Was it when they recognized that things weren't looking so good?
No, it was when they asked.

They didn't ask right.
They didn't trust that it was the will of God that they go through the storm.
They didn't come to Jesus with all the right words, but they came.

It wasn't until they asked that Jesus arose up and took over where their faith could not go.

And it is the same with us.
Don't ride out the storm without asking Jesus in your own way to come and save you.

I want you to know it wasn't their faith that saved them in this story, but it was their relationship.  As rough as their faith was and as little of it as they had, they had enough to know where to go when there was nowhere to go.

Jesus stands up and interferes with nature on behalf of those who knew who to call - but Jesus didn't stop the wind and the waves for just those in His direct contact - Jesus stopped the wind and the waves, the storms of life, the stress and the sure loss of life for all those in the other little ships too."

Other Little Ships 7

"Master, carest thou not that we perish?"

For some of us, there's a season in our walk where we think we know better than God.
For some of us there is a season that we think God is unaware of what we are going through.
For some of us we are going through the stage of, "If it was of God it would be easy and everything would come together like a fairy tale."

They called Him Master, but with the same breath they questioned His authority.

They called Him Master but they don't trust Him.
We call Him Master, but do we trust Him?

Is the Jesus that is in the “hinder part of your ship,” Your Sovereign?
Do you trust that Jesus, the one "asleep on a pillow" is in control?

What happens at that moment when the ship is about to sink?

Mark 4:39
 39.  And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Please let God do this for you.

Other Little Ships 6

"Mark 4:38
38.  And He was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake Him, and say unto Him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

"asleep on a pillow." I had to talk to God about this.
"asleep on a pillow." You've got to be kidding me.
You call me to give it all up for you.
You call me knowing that I will face the impossible.
You call me knowing that my ship is going to come just a moments time away from sinking - And all the while, You are in the hinder part of the ship, "asleep on a pillow.'

Hey, don't get me wrong, I didn't mind too much that God was in the hinder part of the ship - but "asleep on a pillow!!!"

Have you ever been there?
Are you there now?
The wind is blowing.
The waves have tossed you to and fro.
Your ship is about to sink.
You think to yourself, 'what is God doing?'
'Are You asleep on a pillow?
Surely you can't see what I'm going through or you would have done something already.'

Other Little Ships 5

"Mark 4:37
37.  And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full."

Do you believe that this was a real storm they were in?
You bet!!!  This is not the parable of the storm.  This is real life and Jesus called these faithful followers to go right into the storm.

If the disciple’s ship was full of water, what do you think the other little ships were full of?

If the disciples were afraid and they had a direct call from Jesus to cross over to the other side - Do you think those on the other little ships were afraid too?

Here's spiritual growth.  Prior to getting this revelation from God, when you heard this story, did you ever even consider the other little ships as an important contribution to understanding the way of God?

If your ship goes down, so does all the other little ships.

Jesus called the disciples to cross over to the other side, knowing that a great storm would blow
knowing that the waves would beat against their ship
knowing that the waters would fill the ship to the place where it would ultimately perish
knowing that the other little ships were also in great distress

Jesus called them to go knowing all this.

Shouldn't you be a concerned about a master that calls you into such a place of peril?

Shouldn't you be a bit disappointed that He didn't make their way calm and serene, supplying sugar plums and buttercups while counting the stars as they casually sail to the harbor of peace and tranquility?

What kind of God would call you knowing that you could face discomfort, stress or even death?
The kind that is in the hinder part of the ship."

Other Little ships 4

"Mark 4:36, "And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as He was in the ship. And there were also with Him other little ships."

"And there were also with Him other little ships."  If you miss the meaning of why God put this message here for you, you miss a great truth.

Jesus is the Him that went with the disciples and Jesus is the Him that went with the other little ships also.

The other little ships were all the people that the disciples were ministering to.

The other little ships were those ships surrounding the disciples ship.

The other little ships were filled with people who were being reached by the inner circle of disciples.

The other little ships are those who are counting on you and me - those of us who are close to the Master – those of us “in the boat” with Jesus.

The other little ships are following the ship with Jesus in it.
Those in the other little ships were not in the ship with the disciples, but they knew which ship Jesus was in.

There are so many people counting on your faith to lead them to the other side.  May the fire of your devotion show them the way.

There's 20 other little ships watching you set sail with Jesus, right now in each of your life.  May all that come behind us find us faithful.

Are you getting this?"

Other Little Ships 3

"Here in this story (Mark 4:35-41) you have the foresight of knowing what happened, but even if you do not know what is about to happen, if God called you to go over to the other side with Him, your spirit would accept, because your spirit trusts that whatever God says will come to pass, and hopefully, just like with the disciples, they went and you will go too.

But the disciples didn't know what was to come and in your life and in your own stories, you don't know what is to come either.

Did Jesus know what was about to happen?
Does Jesus know what is going to happen in your life?
Did Jesus know that the ship would be filled with water when He called them to pass over to the other side?
Did Jesus know that the storm was coming?
Did Jesus warn the disciples that the storm was coming?

If Jesus calls you to go somewhere or to do something, does that mean that it will always be a cushy/comfortable ride?

Does it mean that there will be no difficulties? - no problems? - no impending peril?

When Jesus call you to something - it's not about how easy it is or how safe it is or how protected you are - If Jesus calls you He is going with you and that is where you need to put your faith.

Please get this, because this goes against much of today’s modern thought about how God operates in our lives.  The Word is trying to teach us about where we find ourselves when Jesus calls and how we handle our situations when we are tested.

Other Little Ships 2

"When Jesus says, "Let us pass over unto the other side," Jesus knows that your spirit is able to obey and wants to obey, but our flesh - our mind and our emotions are sometimes powered by another force.

Habits have formed themselves into barriers / partitions built up against the call of God.
There's the pride barrier
There's the undisciplined lifestyle barrier
There's the traditional barrier for some
There's the succumb to temptation barrier
There's the sleep deprivation barrier
There's the weak willed barrier
There's the, “I will get my needs met first barrier”
There's the, “nobody will see me barrier”
And a thousand more.  There are habits & mind sets that keep us from doing great things for God, and there are habits that keep us from doing little things for God, too.

In this story, Jesus didn’t call everyone to pass over to the other side with Him, but if He calls you to go to the other side with Him, will you go?

I know from experience that if you don't make up your mind ahead of time, you will fall short at those crucial moments where the rubber meets the road."

Note: You know what I am talking about. Don't wait until your back is against the wall to make up your mind about important issues of life. If you make a hasty and unwise decision because you are on the fence, you might be very disappointed later on.

Other Little Ships

Other Little Ships

Please go with me to Mark 4:35-41.  We are going to look at what God has for us today, locked inside and ready to be released for anyone with faith to believe.

Mark 4:35-41
35.  And the same day, when the even was come, He saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
 36.  And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
 37.  And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
 38.  And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
 39.  And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
 40.  And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
 41.  And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

When Jesus says, V35 "Let us pass over unto the other side," There's a lot of dynamics to consider.

When Jesus speaks to you to do a particular thing - Jesus speaks to your spirit to do what He says.  If you were anything other than a human, you could not resist the spoken Word of God, for all creation obeys His voice.

The stars and the moon, the sand on the beach and every creature cannot withstand the spoken Word of God.

Do you remember what Jesus told the Pharisees when Jesus was entering Jerusalem: Luke 19:39-40, A39.  And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
 40.  And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

We are the ones who have the free will to disobey God and go about our own way.  Even the demons must respond to God's commands, but you and I, we were made different.  We don't have to obey God."

The One I've Come To Know

"The One I’ve come to know

If every year without your wisdom
And every hour without your peace
And every moment of rejection
Was what I needed just to see

If every lie and broken promise
Every sin and virtue lost
If every moment without Your presence
Is what had to be the cost

If all my sufferings that I have suffered
And all the loss that came my way
And all the bitterness and envy
Was what it took to find today

Then I will gladly take my portion
Of all it took for God to show
All the riches and the glory
Of the One I’ve come to know

Mercy Love And Grace

"Mercy Love and Grace

To see His face, I thought today
Take from my eyes this earthly veil
That I could enter in Your presence
And live to see and story tell

A lesson I expected not
Blinded by the chance to tell
My ego was not checked before
I entered in behind the veil

Treaded on the ground of God
As if God owed me some quick look
Upon His face, then I could tell
Or maybe write a book

I reached out to touch God’s hand
And look upon His face
Instead, a mirror did appear
And in it was my face

I saw who I really was
Standing, as if I were bare
Instead of seeing the face of God
God had me, meet me there

What I had come to see with eyes
God called upon my faith to see
I came to see God face to face
He showed me first, His mercy

I said, Oh Lord, my God
How can I, now, come closer still
After I have foolishly
Presumed upon Your will

Deep calls to deep, and you shall see
What comes from above
Come closer still, abide in Me
And you will see My love

Again I stand in awe of Him
Who holds the whole world in His hands
Who declares His mercy and His love
To me, a simple man

Without a word I stand in silence
So great a gift I cannot bear
That God would give His mercy and love
With me, to humbly share

Again, God said, come closer still
And I stretched my faith as far
As I could see inside the veil
Bright shining as a star

What I had tried to do was wrong
These three times, sought I His face
But God, not willing that I should leave undone
Revealed to me, His grace

Ne’er again shall I presume
To see God face to face
Now, I go to God to see
His mercy, love and grace"

God Help Me To Walk In Who I Am

God Help Me Walk in Who I Am

"God help me walk in who I am
And in Your grace I learn to stand
Help Thou my anointing flow
That in You I be found to know

God help me walk in who I am
And follow not another’s plan
Seeking higher ground I will
Seeking higher, higher, higher still

God help me walk in who I am
That all my testing not be in vain
That I could boast, “No wasted pain”
For a glimpse of You, I’d go through it again

God help me walk in who I am
That I would do my family well
Provide my wife with pleasant days
And my children with godly ways

God help me walk in who I am
That I should trust my inner man
Step out in faith and expect to see
Results that prove God lives in me

God help me walk in who I am
Speaking words that edify
Trusting in the Word of God
To bring to pass the best of life

God help me walk in who I am
A praying man who counts on God
To bring to pass - what I can’t see
To make me all that I can be

God help me walk in who I am
With words that speak of future plans
And teaching that provides the soul
With food that helps the Spirit grow

God help me walk in who I am
Yielding not to satan’s ploys
listening not to satan’s noise
Joining not with satan’s boys

God help me walk in who I am
Boasting not what I can do
Steering people to the arms

Of the One, who can see them through"

A Story Of A Life

Please take time and read this slowly.

A Story Of A Life

When I try to think about how great God is
I am drawn to think about what is made
about the heavens and the fields and the streams
the flowers, the clouds, the sun and shade

Psalms 8:3-4
 3.  When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
 4.  What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

I think about koala bears and bumble bees
bengal cats, a peacocks flume and bonsai trees
Just one look at where I live and I quickly see
the ocean with all its wonders, were made for me

I see the calm, the storm, the darkness and the light
all made for me for day and night
Not one thing missing for all to complete their tasks
And for each of them to work again I need not even ask

Matthew 5:45
for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

I think about the things I cannot see, like love
and breath, eternity
The intrinsic things that bring me hope, that make me cry
things I save just to capture sentimental value, things you cannot buy
I think about my friends and family and all the things God did for me
I think about the many days God paid my debt and many ways
How God would substitute Himself, even when I was wrong
So I could have a chance at life to find my way along

Philippians 2:12-13
12  Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13  For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.

When I think deep I have to thank God for all that God has let me see
For eyes that can see beyond what I have done with me
For God has made a work of art that I have feigned, a work of man
God put His best in me and I a lessor plan

God filled my life with paid for treasures
As I collected worthless trinkets
Piling one upon another like a junkyard piles worthless cars
That's what happens to a man when he can't see real far

 Matthew 6:21
21.  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

I can't help but be in awe, that God consents to let me think, on  Christ, the very Son of God
And just as profound is when God listens to my wails
when truly me is what is most on my mind,
God=s mercy never fails

1 Chronicles 16:34
34.  O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good; for His mercy endureth for ever.

And God allows me entrance in a holy place where angels dare
the place where nothing lasts that God did not bring there
That I should then endure to live having tasted holy ground
and live a lessor way of life than this life I have found

Exodus 3:5
 5.  And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

And found I did what was not lost, not of my own
But at His cost
Because of what God did for me
That's not why God made the tree

But we have not been faithful with
the little that we have
More oft than not, we fall short in our walk
And forget where we've been even when it's not dark

We openly search for what we think we deserve
for our current self and not eternity's best
When what we find and amass, overall does not last
And we leave unopened our real treasure chest

For we have not found truth to have present worth
As we have money and things we strive for hard
For we think we are better for the toil
And more worthy if we're marred

That way when things don't go right
We can blame God for not giving to us
What we think we should have, saying quite ungraciously
Why hast thou made me thus?

Romans 9:20
 20.  Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to Him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

When I try to think of how great God is
I have an enemy that dances and sings
And does all kinds of things to distract me for a season
And I have been fooled before, when what I thought I saw
would be good for me, I know now was just an illusion
But at every turn when I turn toward God's place
The enemy still supplies confusion

James 3:16  For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

I thought that once I had found my place in the heavenlies
I could rest for a while
But I find I still seek refuge in the things of the world
And I find that they are still filled with guile

1 John 2:15
 15.  Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

There must be an answer that I can understand clearly
As to how to be here and at the same time be there-ly
For certain I've found that without God to assist me
I stand no chance at all but to be utterly bliss-ly

I have found a place where the words are not empty
Where there's power just in the hearing me thinking
Because the source of these thoughts are not mine at all
And neither do they mimic the fall

The Word of God has resonated a wave
that changes the way this man does behave
And yet the way I behave falls far short of the Word
God pardons me just because I have heard

Oh how I would like to write a song that when sung
Men and women would repent of the evil they've done
But to write such a song in itself shows how vain
We've become when we seek promulgating our own name

When we could settle all disputes with a word
Telling others about the One we have heard
And not telling them as if we had to explain
But speaking as one called to proclaim

Mark 16:15
 15.  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

In the depth of God's mines
I am spending my time
and I'm sensing a spiritual pull
I've decided to dig deep for new gems
That I have learned come only from Him
until my bag is full

Not so that I can be rich for myself
But so I'll have something to give
For what I can do with my own mind's mine
is not enough to go around
But even the smallest facet from God is enough to buy
 holy ground

Matthew 13:45-46
45.  Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
 46.  Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

In the past I planted seeds of faith
not giving much heed to the soil
thinking that good crops came about
equivalent to man's toil

But toil and sweat doesn't grow healthy fruit
The soil must be watered and nurtured by God
For I have planted many seeds
and I have harvested many weeds

When I try to think how great God is
I think about how God first called out my name
That before I was born and before I said yes
God had already paid for my shame

1 Corinthians 6:20
 20.  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

There's too many things that contend for my time
As I pass quickly through this life - There's something
fresh on my mind
That I should look to please God daily
And not live my life sparingly

Thank God for the moments when I get to see me as I am
A son of God - joint heir with Christ and not just a man
One who was chosen to spend life with God
I shall never again give sin a light nod

I shall stand firm and resolved to bring God in my life
In my family, my home and business alike
I shall make sure my calling to find why I am
By listening carefully to God in my inner man

Ephesians 3:14-16
14.  For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
 15.  Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
 16.  That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

I shall pray for myself and pray for my friends
I shall look to the God who consistently brings
Good things from above as the Father of lights
Who has already paved a way for our flight

Don't think I'm not pulled from my calling each day
There's hardly a moment when I'm not tested by my nature giving in to a lessor way
But I've decided to say yes when the Spirit calls out
I've decided to practice faith, not doubt

I've decided to read the Word and believe and believe
and believe until my believing receives
And I've decided to receive what was made just for me
That's why I must listen to the Spirit, you see

So why would I try to convince another
Of the experience I have found that took too much time
Because I don't want to see my brother
Leave as many valuable years behind

I don't want to waste another minute of life
Where I am not attentive to God's voice
And as I share with others what has happened inside
I share my final choice

See I don't want to go through more of the same
More years of gathering in crops that are ruined
More years of being just a little late
More years of saying I wish I had done it differently
More years of sowing sparingly
More years of doing nothing daringly
Counting down as life loses its luster
Trudging through life as if walking through quicksand
I found out there's a better plan

The words that I speak can hardly express today's mission
Of proclaiming how your life started with vision
A vision God had when He called out your name
That vision God had/has, has not changed

When God made the earth and all that is in it
He thought about you and what you could do with it
God knew about your days of sadness and pain
And God knew of the blessings that would come your way

God saw down the road a piece and made you a path
That as hard as it seemed it was, is not full of His wrath
For what God foresaw, when He foresaw you ahead
He saw that at one point He would stand in your stead

Because God saw when you and I would turn from His ways
And God could have rightly cast us away
But not like you and I, God's forgiveness is better
When God forgives, He forgives forever

Psalms 103:12
 12.  As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

We can't go back and fix our past
God doesn't want that from us
That's why when God forsook His own Son
It was to cover up what you and I have done

But today and tomorrow we have a chance to redeem
And to live out our life it as it was made - God breathed
To reflect our origin having been born again
To live out tomorrow above the auspices of sin

Romans 8:15
 15.  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Never again accept second best for your soul
When all that God made is available and free
God doesn't want His children to live like the world
God wants us to live out our life with decree

Take heed to these words and follow the wise
To decide to make today the day we decide
That without reservation we will give God our best
And put a stop to putting God to the test

I was thinking, what words could I say
That could bring you and I to a place we could stay
A staying place where there's power
A staying place where there's power for more than an hour

So I leave you with this word to ponder
Your hopes and your dreams are considered each day
By a God that knows how to bring them your way
And there's no better day to get started than now
to trust in the Lord - and let the Lord show you how

1 Timothy 3:16
 16.  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
