Thought for the day

"God-thinking is about growing in grace. Let's get right down to business and take a look at what scripture has to say about growing in grace. Let's start by reading in 2 Peter. Peter had been with the Lord for about three years. After that, Peter goes about teaching and healing and preaching. In his life he wrote two books of the new testament. Having spent three years with Jesus and now another thirty-three years since Jesus ascended into heaven, he has become quite the expert in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I think Peter has become quite familiar with the life of the Christian. After all, he was the one who denied that he even knew Jesus and he was also one of those who went to the mount of transfiguration. At this point in his life, Peter is defending the faith with his very life. From denying the Lord to dying for the Lord, Peter speaks with authority. Peter has something to say that you would do well to hear and believe. Peter knows about growing in grace. He sums up His experience with God in this way. 2 Peter 3:17-18 "Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. V18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever. Amen."
