Going back to where we
started. In school, at home growing up,
in college, Sunday School and even in Sunday service you have been taught what
to think. But adequate time and energy,
devotion and meditation has not been presented to us on 'how to think'. And yet 'how we think' is just as important as
what to think.
Listen to the scriptures
and let them have the pre-eminence in you mind and in your inner man.
Isaiah 26:3
3. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind
is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Philippians 4:8
8. Finally,
brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever
things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be
any praise, think on these things.
Jeremiah 29:11
11. For
I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of
peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
We have settled for less
because much of the hype and promises made to us by well-meaning family,
friends, teachers and pastors turned out to be erroneous.
Your experience doesn't match what you are told
should be.
Your faith soon
declines. You have heard so many sermons
about how bad things are, you have trouble seeing how beautiful things are.
You have been told so long
that you are a worm that when confronted with an uplifting and positive Word
from God, about who you are in Christ, it seems almost foreign.
you've assigned yourself to
mediocrity because you've been running on regular
gas for far too long. You weren't designed to run on
regular gas. We were designed to run on supernatural gas.
You've trained yourself how
to read the Word of God and not be moved.
You've become like the
Pharisees; you nurture the dead and kill the prophet.
you've lessened the bar. No longer does it take a 70% to pass. you've lowered the bar to 20%
so no ones feelings get hurt.
You are constantly
restructuring to cater to men's this and women's that.
You've become a seasoned
manipulator.
You've become OK with boxing
God in to meet your time constraints.
This world is in its
constant state of affairs, worldly, sensual, rebellious, self-promoting,
because you think on the things of the world more than the things of God."
