Thought for the day

"There is much controversy about who God is, but most, if not all controversy comes from an ignoble (low) view of God. As you get closer to God the vastness of the great chasm between God and man becomes even greater still. As truth is unveiled and your knowledge of God increases, you see more and more the great disparity between the finite (us) and the infinite (God).

I once questioned the thinking of the many saints of old who speak about this indescribable greatness of God. The truth is: The vastness of God is not apprehended by your intellect, nor is it understood by much study, nor is it brought into subjection by worship. Grand thinking, study and worship are good, but they alone do not and cannot reveal infinite God. The deliberate creation of countless religions prove it beyond any doubt. God can only be recognized and understood by faith. Simple faith."

Thought for the day

God cannot be explained away as a theological concept. God cannot be reduced to what mankind can explain. God is far above any description that we could create, because the finite cannot describe the infinite.

God-thinking demands a high and lofty view of God. Truly, the way you see God ultimately determines the results of your faith. For you receive God by faith. To know God you must receive Him by faith. You receive who God is by His Spirit. And it is by the indwelling Holy Spirit that you know God at all. Apart from the Holy Spirit, you know not God, nor can you, because God is, and He can only be rightly known of Himself.

Thought for the day

"God-thinking paints a dynamic word picture of how God wants us to think, so that we can become like Christ; And we become like Christ by being renewed, day by day, by the Holy Spirit.  But what I learned from my experiences with God is that even God-thinking cannot accurately describe who God is.  God cannot be described by human reasoning.

Not even the spirit-filled believer can put into words an adequate, all-encompassing description/representation/depiction or portraiture of God.  God cannot be uncovered and revealed like a man or a woman or a created thing.

How would the finite mind describe the infinite God anyway?  In finite terms.

Thought for the day

"This week I was thinking about God, trying to prod God to speak to me. I wanted to enter into the realm of the supernatural. I wanted to be caught up like John was (Rev. 4:1). I wanted to narrow the distance of what I saw as a vast chasm between God and myself. I wanted to see His back like Moses (Ex. 33:22), or take a chariot ride like Elijah (2 Kings 2:11).

I looked into the skies and I said, "Father, why does it all seem so futile. It seems that at every turn there is something of a lesser sort that makes itself easily available. I want to make wise choices and please you. I want to be the God man of this century. How Lord can I overcome who I am?"  In my moments of heightened spiritual ascent, I realized that I was really doing this for me. I was on a sort of spiritual throne trying to figure out God and bring Him down to think like me. After all, wasn't God made in my image?

You know, God doesn't always say to us what we want to hear. But God did speak to me, and He said, at the moment of my highest aspirations, "Oh foolish and little man. How vain are your thoughts."

Thought for the day

"God-thinking allows the Spirit of God within you to commune with your spirit for the purpose of giving us the mind of Christ. With the mind of Christ you can take the higher path. Here's where you get confused. Because of past teachings and some beliefs you have acquired by default - you think of the higher path as something that is for the cleric or guru, the priest or the pastor or an enlightened one.

In some religions it is thought to be one who has reached "nirvana", or to become "clear". And for our friends the cucumber worshipers, the higher path might be in the way they pick their cucumbers.

But in essence, the higher path has nothing to do with what you are called or what you do for a living. It has everything to do with who you are and how you think. Choosing the higher path is when you allow God to have input into how you do your job or how you handle a situation.

As a body mechanic the higher path might be found in an ethical question that arises during a restoration project. He or she finds a rather costly but needed repair that was missed in the estimate. Do you tell the client and disclose the unfortunate discovery, telling them that they will have to pay fo it, taking the chance that they might lose the client or do you not tell the client and let them find out later?

Let's say you are a waiter or waitress and you are serving a hot delectable shrimp scampi and you notice there is something that doesn't belong in the dish. Do you take it out (the whatever it is) and serve it or do you take it back and have the chef remake the dish?

You are teaching women in prison and you have prepared a beautiful message. You have a plan and you worked hard to get it all together. You step in the room and sense a deep hurt - a need that only God can fill. Do you follow the plan or meet the need?

The higher path always requires that you work as if you work unto the Lord. The higher path requires God-thinking. You stop making decisions by default. You start making decisions out of a conscious effort to seek the better good for everyone. The higher path is wherever you are and in whatever you are doing when you are allowing God thoughts to be "on top" in your mind. You are ministering to others in spirit."

Thought for the day

"God-thinking requires God to be in everything you believe in. God-thinking pro-actively seeks out (within yourself) every message - every belief - every tenet of faith - every thought that is not sanctioned by God and replaces every message - every belief - every tenet of faith - every thought, by faith, with God ordained thoughts.

Ex: You are driving down the road and the person in front of you puts on their right blinker and then makes a left turn. You have already begun to veer to the left and you are forced to make a quick decision, which you do, and you just barely avoid an accident. There are many ways to handle this incident. You could quickly and without forethought conclude that the driver in front of you is an idiot. Under your breath or outwardly you rail on them with indignation. Name calling is a popular way to vent your displeasure. And depending on the situation a quick hand signal might be in order.  Most of us that respond this way, do so by default. It's not that we really mean the things we say. But it is accepted and even popular to respond this way in our culture.

God-thinking deals with this situation a little differently. First, God-thinking requires that you take responsibility for your part in the incident. You may have been driving too fast or not paying attention at the moment. Second, muttering obscenities or disrespectful remarks toward someone who cannot even hear what you are saying is not productive. Third, Hurling negative remarks at others imbeds those negative remarks within yourself, as well as the one you railed at. Fourth, No one benefits. Fifth, All of us occasionally make mistakes.

God-thinking first calls on God to intervene if it looks like the situation might be beyond your control.  You might pray a thanksgiving prayer, thanking God for protecting you.  You can intercede for the other driver, even if they are at fault, and ask God to help them to be more careful.  You can pray that you don=t do what they just did."

Thought for the day

"We are called creatures of habit for a very good reason - we are.
  • It takes times to develop bad habits or poor communication skills.
  • It takes time to become impatient with others.
  • It takes time to become insensitive to the needs of others.
Over time we become reactive and defensive. Sometimes the conditions and circumstances around us, mold us into who we are, by default.

Why is there so much apathy and unbelief in our country? Because many of us have allowed our culture, our environment, the media, politics, the faithless and powerless to mold us. Sometimes we become who we are by default.

God-thinking works to rebuild (every thought that became part of who you are, by default) by re-creating the way you think.

Thought for the day

"You need to rebuild your internal vocabulary and let God remove some (old man thinking) and replace it with some (new creation God-thinking.) It's time you learn to speak the Word of God into your situation:
  • Into your household
  • Into your marriage
  • Into your mother or father
  • Into your children
  • Into your friends
  • Into your waiter
  • Into your customers
  • Into your insurance salesmen
If you sense a need, minister to that need "in the spirit."

Thought for the day

"God-thinking is careful about hardened positions that cause dissension or unnecessary disagreement.

God-thinking is far more concerned with the whole person than their personal beliefs, many of which are there by default and not really a fault of their own.

God-thinking allows new light to rebuild our mind and replace unsubstantiated information with God breathed truth.

God-thinking melts the brazen heart. Sometimes I think we forget who we are. We are seed planters, not harvesting angels.

God-thinking is about getting our own thoughts in order.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 "(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) V5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"

Thought for the day

"Many times, You and I believed something that the Spirit of God within, did not confirm, even as a Christian.  Sometimes we choose the lesser way.  This is called grieving the Holy Spirit.  One of the hurdles for the spiritual man or woman to overcome is; Our reluctance to let God shed new light in us.

As a people, we so desperately fear reproof, that sometimes we incase what we believe in bronze, so to speak.  It doesn=t matter so much whether it is right, we hold on to it because it fits who we are right now.  We believe many things that we have never seen or understood for ourselves.  We have never seen them in scripture.  The Spirit of God has not agreed with our spirit concerning this or that, but we hold onto it by default.

Do to the lack of personal bible study and impotent teachers, some of us have taken a brazen stand on unsubstantiated information."

Thought for the day

""But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."  1 Corinthians 2:14

The unregenerated man does not and cannot practice God-thinking, for the things of God are spiritually discerned. The unregenerated man can practice positive thinking, but not God-thinking. The only way you or I can be led astray, is if we believe something that the Spirit of God within us, is not in agreement with.

Thought for the day

"Truth is put inside of us by the Spirit of God. Truth is revealed to us by the Spirit of God. Truth is understood by the Spirit of God. Let's read 1 Corinthians 2:9-10.  Human wisdom cannot understand the things of God. I wonder if you truly are thankful to God for allowing you to receive His Spirit. Knowing the Father in itself is more than you could ever expect. Have you ever felt that? Just knowing God is such a blessing in itself.

1 Corinthians 2:9 "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him."

Before you came to Christ, it made no difference how much God revealed of Himself, you could not receive it. This is the condition of the unsaved man or woman. Before Christ, you could not see nor could you hear, nor could you understand what God had prepared fo you. God was at work preparing a path for yous, but you could not see it.

V10 "But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God." The "us", is the believer. How does God reveal what eye hath not seen and ear hath not heard and what hath not entered into the heart of man? By His Spirit.

Are you OK with that?

Thought for the day

"Ministering in the spirit is a process. First you consciously hold the things of God in your mind and your heart and build up your spirit self. Then you release your spiritual understanding to others as led by the Holy Spirit. Think about it.
How does God speak to you, audibly or spiritually?
How did God save you? Materially of spiritually?

When God releases His virtue to heal you, (physically, emotionally or spiritually), how is that virtue released, physically or spiritually?
Even with physical healing, God performs it by His Spirit. Everything about God is spiritual. When God moves in a situation to supernaturally intervene, He changes the outcome of the physical universe by His Spirit.

When you hear a truth that sinks down into your soul and something clicks, and your eyes are opened to a truth, where did that eye opening truth come from?  The Spirit of God.

It is the Spirit of God that indwells you that recognizes spiritual things.  That is why, when the Word of God is read or preached you can be stirred or moved - Your spirit agrees with the Spirit of God and you have revealed truth.  How can you agree with what you read in the Word of God or what is preached if you don=t have the Sprit of God within you?

Thought for the day

"God-thinking works. The practice of God-thinking has efficacy and power. One of the reasons God-thinking takes root so quickly and easily is because of its premise, putting the thoughts of God "on top" in your mind, all the time. What happens inside of you is:

  • Youe start to see things differently.
  • You begin to see the good in others.
  • You become more friendly.
  • You become a better listener.
  • You are more careful with your tongue.
  • The things of God become more important to you.
  • The things of the world become far less important to you.
  • Bad situations take their proper place in your life instead of ruling the moment.
  • You take time to find out God's purpose in it (anything).
  • What we used to think were barriers you now use as present opportunities.
  • You see further down the road, instead of just being able to see what is in front of you like you are in a think fog.  Ever had that feeling?
  • You learn to speak far less.
  • You learn the truth about who you are in Christ.
  • You learn that you are heirs of God and a joint-heir with Christ.
  • You learn how to be who you are in Christ.
  • You learn how to minister to others in the spirit.

Thought for the day

"Now, here you are and God is still working His will, in and through those vessels who will receive Him.  If you are one of these vessels, God is going to work His will in and through you to do mighty exploits.

If you can believe what God says, nothing shall be impossible for you.  Matthew 17:19-20  AThen came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? (Speaking of their inability to cast out a demon from a child).  V20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove ye hence to yonder peace; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."

You need to hear this: This is who you are in Christ!!!

  • You have been forgiven for all your sins.
  • You are a beautiful person.
  • You are living in eternity right now.
  • You have the mind of Christ.
  • You are heirs of God. Do you really understand the implication of this.
  • You possess power and authority over satan.
  • You have already learned how to be connected to God.
  • You can receive today's message from God.
  • You can receive direction today from God.
  • You can be who you see yourself to be.
  • You can get your PhD or Masters or GED.
  • You can live a pure life dedicated to the things of God.
  • You can hear the voice of God.
The depth of your relationship with God will grow and mature throughout eternity. These powerful truths, about who you are in Christ, come when God comes to indwell you. God-thinking says "be, who you are, in Christ."

Thought for the day

"Understanding who you are in Christ is your God given right. Once you recognize and believe who you are in Christ - your possibility for success - your ability to accomplish our task at hand - your likelihood of reaching your life's goal is dramatically increased. Knowing who you are in Christ and believing that you can do whatever is in God's will for you to accomplish is what God-thinking believes.

  • Who has been telling you that you don't have the authority to speak the Word of God with power?
  • Who has convinced you that as a Christian you must be poor and ignorant?
  • Thirdly, Why did you ever believe it? It's not what God says.
The Word of God speaks for itself. Had you been reading the Word of God all the years that you have been in church and believing what God says, you wouldn't be waiting for a global move of God to help you believe it is your time to receive the things of God."

Thought for the day

Apart from the indwelling Holy Spirit, your spirit only recognizes the things of man. Mankind does not know the things of God, but the Spirit of God does know, therefore without the Spirit of God indwelling you, you cannot please God or operate in the power of God.

1 Corinthians 9:12 "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God." Once you have received the Spirit of God, you can grow and understand the things of God, because they are freely given to you by the Spirit of God.

Ministering in the spirit, is when you minister to others, by letting the power that has been given to you by the Spirit of God, be given to others by the spirit in you. As you invest yourselve into the life of others, they benefit from your relationship with God, in the spirit. Your spirit is renewed day by day if you let the Spirit of God flow through you.

Thought for the day

"What are some things Jesus did that we can do?

God-thinking believes that we can: Do what God says. Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." And 1 Peter 1:15-16 "But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; V16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."

Christianity is about holiness, righteousness & purity. It does matter what we believe.

Until we recognize who we are in Christ, who we really are in Christ, we will not have fulfillment in life.

  • You will not have peace and joy.
  • Your goals will seem worlds away.
  • Your desires will look like silly dreams.
  • Your life's goal will seem impossible.
God takes seriously His creation. God is pleased with His plan. And we would do well to get with God's program.

Thought for the day

"God-thinking believes that: You have been anointed and you have already received all truth from God. 1 John 2:27 "But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him."

"God-thinking believes that: You are a new creature. 2 Corinthians 5:17 "therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

God-thinking believes that you are: The righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. V21For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him."

Thought for the day

"God-thinking believes that you are: Saved by the grace of God. Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God."

God-thinking believes that you are: Born of the spirit of God. John 3:5-7 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. V6 that which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. V7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."

God-thinking believes that you are: An Heir of the kingdom of God. Romans 8:16-17 "the Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: V17 and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together."

Thought for the day

"God-thinking focuses on your personal relationship with God, seeking ways to increase in God, and by doing so, you will greatly benefit yourself and those around you.

Drawing close to God will do more for those you are concerned about than all the coaxing, preaching and talking that you can do in a lifetime. When you get so close to God, so close that His virtue permeates your being, you can receive His virtue. That virtue can now be transferred to those around you by ministering to them in the spirit.

Without speaking a word, you can let the virtue of God pass through you to others to bless them, teach them and heal them."

Thought for the day

"You are a beautiful new creation of God. You are complete in Christ. Just because you may not exercise all of your spiritual and earthly rights; Just because you don't operate in all the power of God that is available; Just because you don't access what is yours, doesn't mean that you don't possess it.

You stand before God as an heir of the kingdom of God, now, not at some later date, like after death. Yes, you are heirs then too, but no more so than you are right now, today.

God-thinking requires that you believe the truth about who you are in Christ and that you operate in the wisdom of that truth, every day.

Thought for the day

"God knows that no person can come to Him unless they go through Christ. Jesus reiterates this truth in John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth , and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me." You and I hold within us the truth that can only be received by faith in Jesus Christ.. All religions that deny the Son, deny the Father. There is no solace found in knowledge apart from the Spirit of God.

John 4:24 says "God is a spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and truth." God-thinking trusts the way God handles His affairs and doesn't try to invent some way to include those outside of God's perfect plan of salvation.

Once you get this issue right you will recognize the importance of your testimony, your faith, your example, your loyalty.  Just as Jesus Christ is the voice of God, because Christ has the mind of God, You are the voice of Christ, because you have the mind of Christ.  It is who you are!!"

Thought for the day

"If you believe what God says in His Word and in your spirit, then you cannot help but receive what is yours.

If you believe what God says, you cannot help but receive the promises of God.

If you believe what God says, you cannot help but being like Christ.

If you believe what God says, you cannot help but being an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ (present tense).

Romans 8:14-17 "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the Sons of God. V15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. V16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: V17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together."

God-thinking says, Awake heir of God, get on with the work of the Father. Share the truth that Jesus Christ is the only way to true spirituality."

Thought for the day

"Do you realize that millions of believers are still arguing about whether we can lose our salvation and whether or not we receive the Holy Spirit when we are saved?  Did Moses really part the Red Sea?  Did Jesus really walk on water?  Was Jesus really virgin born?  Did God create all that is here on earth in six days?

I=m asking you, if you don=t believe the simple truths that are clearly written in scripture, why should God impart the holy things like healing and wisdom and miracles to you?  But if you do believe what God says, God cannot keep you from being who you are, A CHILDREN OF THE LIVING GOD, joint heirs with Christ of all that is His.

Excerpt from The Power of God Thinking by Keith C. Powell Copyright 2010

Thought for the day

"If you don't believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and that there is no other name by which you must be saved, you haven't been saved. You do not believe the testimony of God of His Son.

You might wonder, "why is this so important?"  Because there is no life apart from Jesus Christ. The whole world is worshiping somebody: Buddha, Allah, the goddess Dianna, (Jesus the brother of satan), satan, themselves, the human consciousness, cucumbers and on and on.  God-thinking thinks like Christ and Christ thinks like God.

Now get a hold of this and you will receive power from on high. Let's look at to John 5:19. Jesus was talking to unbelievers/Jews in this case. They wanted to kill Him because He had been healing on the Sabbath day. Hear what Jesus says. John 5:19 "Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He seeth the Father do: for what things soever He doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise."

Let me ask you something, During Jesus's ministry, was Jesus being Himself?  Could Jesus be anything but Himself? And who He is, is the Son of God.  Neither can we be something that we are not.

As born again believers we are by design a child of God, and heir with Christ, now and forever.  God did not make us a child of the living God, just so we can go to heaven.  God makes us a child of God so we can be like His Son.  Eternal life doesn=t start after we die, when this life is over.  Eternal life starts the moment we receive Christ, and doesn=t end.  God gives us eternal life at the moment of salvation.  John 10:27-28  AMy sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:  V28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.@

God-thinking believes what God says above what man says."

Thought for the day

"I'm not sure that you fully understand the outcome of negative thinking. Not only does it keep you from God-thinking, usually when you think negatively, you pass its poison on to others. Is that godly? God does not honor poison talk. We should never say demeaning and damaging things about God's holy church. And you need to be very careful what we say about God's pastor and God's people. If you are to think like Christ, then you are going to have to find the best in everything, not the worst.

God-thinking causes you to believe and speak God thoughts. Yes, you must emulate your Lord and Savior, and yes you must do what He says to do.
You must be what He says you are.
You must be who He says you are.

I am certain beyond a shadow of a doubt that you and I have been programmed by our culture to think far less than we are capable of, and to think of ourselves far less than we should. We have been taught by the traditions of men that even when we are saved, we are worms, worthy of nothing, but to just long for the day when all will end here and everything will be made perfect for us. We have been lied to by satan. he has strategically set us up to think far too much of who he is and far too little of who we are in Christ."

"God-thinking helps us recognize the balances and the imbalances in our life.  Once we recognize them, we can start stacking Aon top@ what will advance us and make us better, and push down, far down and eventually out altogether, those things which are keeping us from being our best.  As John said in 3 John 2  ABeloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.@

Thought for the day

"God-thinking is practicing thinking God thoughts, beautiful thoughts, good thoughts, thoughts that build up, thoughts that empower, thoughts that encourage.  This process of thinking God thoughts will in time thoroughly steer the day.  There are many enemies that will show their ugly face when the things of God become what=s Aon top@.  But hold on just as long as you can.  You can succeed."

Thought for the day

"God is imparting to us more of Himself. You are apprehending the mind of God as God reveals Himself to you. God isn't as interested in you learning as He is in you receiving. My God, how many times have you learned the same truths over and over again, and yet there is no power in your life. It is not until you receive the truth that it becomes part of who you are.

While you are looking for some experience or sign, God is imparting Himself freely to those who will simply receive Him. If you spent half the time receiving what God is imparting as you do re-learning the same principles over and over again, in just a short time, your mind and our heart would be so full of God that there would be no room for the empty promises of the world.

Let's deal with this impartation a little. Let me ask you something.
What do you put in your car's gas tank?
What happens if you put water in it?
What would happen if you put orange juice in it?
How many of you would plan to take your family to dinner knowing you couldn't pay for it?
Who do you think is the best person to raise your kids? You or somebody else?

Do you know why so many Christians today are "ever learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth?

Do you really want to know why people would rather learn the same thing over and over than to learn it once and put it to use?

Do you really want to know why so few people truly want an impartation from God?

Because when God imparts Himself - imparts His truth - imparts His Spirit, you cannot remain the same. (That just doesn't appeal to everybody)
