A complicated relationship with God is a religious relationship. That's right. It is not God the Father, The Holy Spirit and Jesus the Christ that has muffed up the clear and discerning message of the gospel. Since the beginning of creation God has spoken clearly to those who would listen and the messages kept simple.
As important as denominational religion is, it is also the reason for the knowledge base of believers being so low. Pastors, preachers and priests carefully package their message around their denomination's needs: Regular revenue, building fund, guarding their denominations hidden truths, (Truths that set them apart from another denomination), perpetuation of programs, payments to General Assembly, etc. It's not that any of these things are bad in themselves, but the message of the gospel, in many cases, is steered around these issues, not through them. All of these issues should be considered, but not at the expense of making sure that everyone in your congregation has at least as much truth as the pastor. That's right. Everyone deserves to know the intricate truths that allow the Christian to be a conqueror. Instead many pastors, teachers, priests are much satisfied with lemmings, not eagles, duty bound parishioners, not co-pastors.
Not sharing the deep truths that a pastor, preacher or priests has come to know might be a sin, but at bare minimum it is an impropriety. Not sharing the deep truths that transform lives means that the person that is holding truth but not disseminating it will not grow in that truth and eventually if held too long that truth will become ineffectual. Anyone holding truth and not using it or dispersing it will soon find that truth a burden and not a blessing. Truths from God were meant to be fluid, moving, transferring from one to another, transforming lives along the way. Once the link is stopped, so too is the power of it, the effectual nature becomes inactive and the truth that was meant to be shared becomes a stumbling block for the person holding it in silence.
You might be thinking I am making a big deal out of nothing. I don't think so. I personally believe that most of the ails of modern Christianity are from those in leadership holding truths hostage to their congregation and parishioners biting the apple of complacency. After all ignorance gives one the power of deniability.
Jas_4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
