V22 Ye worship ye know not what: We know what we worship: For salvation is of the Jews.
V23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
V24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.
V25 The woman saith unto Him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
Can you see how the woman at the well is getting just a little more serious about this conversation.
She is thinking back to what she was taught or what she heard concerning the Messiah.
She wants Jesus to know that she is not totally ignorant of the things of God. She is starting to listen and she realizes she is in the presence of a credible source of information.
Now she is close, like so many;
- They have heard the voice of God call them by name.
- They have received enough light that they are ready to receive from God the free gift of salvation.
- They are right on the edge of their seat, ready to leap forward at the unction of the Holy Spirit.
- They are not living as they know they should, but they are powerless to do anything about it on their own.
