God Thinking 56 - The Handiwork of God 6

"I don’t want to get off a tangent, but this is how a great many people who call themselves Christians live:
  • They come to hear the Word of God preached.
  • They listen carefully.
  • They hear the Word of God.
  • They decide what portion of it will fit their current lifestyle.
  • They adhere to those truths and principles that fit into their current way of life, not moved at all by the theology of God, that changes their mind, convicts their hearts or converts their soul.
Only a few want good theology, because only a few are willing to yield there wants and desires for that of God.
Only a few care at all about what God has to say.  Most people today are seeking to hear words that comfort them and make them feel good about their current condition.
Only a few are listening for God to speak to them.
The bible says in James 1, 22.  But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.  23.  For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:  24.  For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.  25.  But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
Good theology requires that you change the way you think every time God speaks into your being some new truth - (new to you)."
