Thought for the day

"The whole world has lied about Jesus.  They have lied about who He is, what He has done for you and what He expects from you.  The world talks to you about Jesus like they are the experts.  They talk negatively about someone they have never even met.  The unbelieving world is quick to cut down the Christian faith.  They are quick to make fun and condemn you and they are far more intolerant of Christians than you are of those who are not.  Some are innocent and simply led astray, the blind leading the blind.  Others are not so innocent and they choose darkness rather than the light.   Either way, they are on the broad path."

Thought for the day

"The Word is true. God says "every good gift and every perfect gift is from above..." James 1:17 It's true. With Christ comes:
  • An exciting and adventurous life
  • Extreme challenges
  • Personal confidence about who you are
  • Health for your body
  • Vision for your future
  • Satisfaction in the now
  • With Jesus the past is buried, forgotten and forgiven.
It's not that if you turn to Christ to follow Him, that you will never have a problem. But with Jesus there will never be a problem you cannot overcome. It's not that you won't want things that you might not be able to afford, but with Jesus you will enjoy and appreciate what you have right now. It's not that you won't have trials and tribulations, turmoil and trouble, but with Jesus you will never be abandoned, mistreated or misused.

Thought for the day

"We must get it right. The path that leads to eternal life with God is in the opposite direction of the path that leads to destruction. God designed it this way - to assure the believer that they would know when they were on the right path. It would be narrow and it goes in the opposite direction of the world.

Let me tell you a true, modern day story about the times we live in. An acquaintance of mine just came back from North Vietnam. He was on a hiking expedition through the northernmost mountains of North Vietnam. He was with a group of men and women that hiked about 400 miles. Then they continuing kayaking another 100 miles to end up in Hanoi.

North Vietnam is a communist country. But in their own way they are trying to bridge the gap with foreigners. They (the North Vietnamese government and military) treated the hikers with respect and they left the hikers alone to travel without supervision. As the hikers traveled throughout the mountains and then down to the coastline, they met many native people who allowed them to stay in their houses and eat their food, which was scarce. Most of the children speak English, but noone there knows why they speak English or where the language came from. The natives don't know the word America. They know nothing about America or its people.

The North Vietnamese government is adamantly against religious expression of any kind, however they do allow some religious influences in their country. There is a Buddhist Pagoda and a small Catholic sect in Hanoi, which is the most modern city in the Northern side of Vietnam.

As my friend was going through indoctrination, the North Vietnamese government officials explained the rules, regulations and boundaries set up for the hiking adventure. They discussed every aspect of the hike. Generally speaking there rules were no different than they would be anywhere, even here in our country - except one rule: During their hike, they cannot speak the name of Jesus. If the hikers were to break this rule, their Visa would be revoked and they would be sentenced to an indefinite stay in state prison. Here is a real life example of one of those stations along the broad path that stop those who turn or have turned toward Christ. This was in 2004.

There are two paths: The broad path that leads to destruction and the narrow path that leads to life everlasting. We need to quit wasting our time trying to merge the narrow path that leads to eternal life with the wide path that leads to destruction. They cannot merge. They never did merge. They never will merge."

Thought for the day

"God knows that at the end of the broad path is empty promises from the wicked one. Those on the broad path cannot see the end. They only see the path and all its trappings. Jesus says again in Mark 1:17 "...Come ye after Me, and I will make you to become fishers of men." Many, many times Jesus says, "follow Me." Jesus leads us on the narrow path to the straight gate. And while those on the broad path are hurling accusations and putting obstacles in our way; while they are offering us everything possible to keep us from staying on the narrow path, Jesus is walking the path with us. There is no way to stay in the right direction without Jesus leading the way.

Even when Jesus visited the home of the unbelieving, the prostitutes, houses of ill repute, (one of the stations on the broad path), He was always headed in the other direction of those on the broad path. He only stopped to tell those inside that they were headed in the wrong direction.

Jesus was talking to Paul, who had been persecuting the Church. Acts 26:16-18 "But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; V17 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, V18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in Me." Paul was on the broad path. He had stopped at one of the stations called 'RELIGIOUS PIETY.' Then he met Jesus in the road and turned the other way and he was told to turn others from darkness to light, from satan unto God, (from the broad path to the narrow path, from one direction to another.)

Thought for the day

Continued from the previous blog yesterday

"There was total unity among the vendor stations, except one small station at the very beginning of the path. There is a tiny little entranceway and a narrow little path right in the middle of the wide road to get there. Every now and then, the vendors would see someone going the opposite way of the broad, wide road. That's what's different about this one little station, it's at the opposite end of the broad path.

When a vendor would see someone walking down this narrow path, they would jeer at them and mock them, they would hurl things at them. They would holler at them and call them names, like: intolerant, narrow-minded, hypocritical, judgmental and homo-phobic.

They would try to trip those on the narrow path and they would throw their trash into the narrow path as the traveler passed by. They would set up barricades and obstacles in front of every station. At some stations they placed guards to shoot anyone they found heading in the direction of the narrow path. At some stations they blocked the path and if a person continued in that direction they would be arrested or killed.

Matthew 7:13-14 Jesus says, "Enter ye in at the straight gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: V14 Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." There is a teaching - a philosophy of sorts going around that goes like this; "All paths lead to God." Don't buy it. Don't agree with your neighbor and friends when they speak about this broad, all encompassing path. This path doesn't lead to God. It leads to a dead end; a huge pit called "the second death."

Thought for the day

"There is wisdom in God-thinking. One of the truths that God-thinking purports is a very important truth about the path of life. The whole world is beating a path in the same direction. This direction ends abruptly at a precipice. Along the way there are stations that help those on this path to reach their goal. The goal is to get to the end of the path. These stations have names, like: self-actualization, humanism, spiritism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Scientology, Mormonism and hundreds of others.

Each station on this path is to help the climber to get to the top or the end of the path. They call the top names like: acquired knowledge, the Celestial City, the Pagoda, Nirvana and clear. This path leads most to an understanding of life as a circle. When they die on this path, in some cases, they are told they will start over again and come back to the path and stop at another station.

They have a name for this circle of life; it is called reincarnation. Reincarnation becomes the hope of many. It works like an anesthesia to assist those on this path, because those on this path do not believe in personal responsibility for the life they have.

The stations all offer a great many lessons. Each lesson is designed to keep you on this path. In some stations like Islam, they promise a special future for those who will agree to die in battle. (It is promised to each and everyone who will voluntarily die before they get to the end of the path, (seven virgins and great wealth). And of course they will be permitted to continue on this path when they come back, to finish the ascent to the precipice.

On this path everything is sold. You can get anything you want. It's a no holds barred, have it your own way, and do it your own way, path. This path is broad, because there are a lot of people on this path. It is so wide, you can't even see from one side to the other. It is packed with people all headed in the same direction. Each station on this path has a special set of rules that apply to all those who stop at each station on the way. But faithful one to the other, they all point the traveler in the same direction.

All the vendors on this path have agreed, that since all the stations lead the same direction there should be agreement among them as to the name for the path.

One by one, they all join a one direction organization. They decided that this one direction organization should have a name. It took thousands of years to come to agreement, but at the end of six thousand years they unanimously voted that the official name of the organization for the broad path would be: "ALL PATHS LEAD TO GOD."

Thought for the day

"God invited you to eat a healthy diet; a diet created for you that provides the very best for your body. Have you invited the Holy Spirit to assist you in making wise choices about your diet? God has invited you to live a holy life. Have you invited the Holy Spirit to reveal to you how to live a life of holiness?

God-thinking is about changing the way you think, to think like Christ. This will not happen unconsciously. It will require a conscious decision to invite God to participate in everything you do. God will not participate without invitation. The Word says, "Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God." Philippians 4:6
God participates in the affairs of your life by invitation.
  • Be encouraged - God has not hid Himself - God has revealed Himself.
  • God did not create some impossible path to find Him - He called you by name and draws you to Himself to reveal Himself personally.
  • God did not make it impossible for you to find God - He sent His own Son to reveal Him.
  • God did not keep you in bondage to your sin - He sent His Son to die for you and to set you free.
  • God has not let you live in spiritual poverty - He has filled you with His Spirit.
  • God has invited you to be an Ambassador, a heir to His kingdom and joint heir with Christ.
  • He has invited you to be His friend, His child.
  • He has invited you to ask for whatever you will.
  • He has invited you into His presence.
  • He has invited you to receive every promise, every Word of faith, every blessing.
  • God has freely given you every opportunity to receive every blessing He has ever created.
Have you reciprocated?
Have you invited God to be God in our life?
Have you invited God to be your Ambassador, to go before you and make a way for you?
Have you made God an heir to your kingdom, your money, your goods, your family, your children, your friends?
Have you invited God to be your friend?
Have you invited God to be your Father?
Have you invited God to ask you to go with you?
Have you invited God into your presence?
Have you invited God to receive your promise, the words you speak in faith, your blessings?

God-thinking invites God into everything that has to do with everything. Are you ready to invite God into your life, to reside, to commune, to live? If you already know the Lord, are you ready to invite God into your everything. If you are, take a moment and pray and let God have His way with you today, right now.

If you have not yet asked God to come and to dwell in you and take away your sins and make you free. Don't wait. You are invited.

Thought for the day

"If you want the very best that God has for you, you will have to be just like Jesus. You will have to give God your very best. The Holy Spirit of God invites you to allow Him to work in you and through you, and because you were made in the image and likeness of God, you will have to invite God to work in you and through you. "If ye, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?" Luke 11:13

No one comes to God without invitation and God comes to no one without invitation. It's how God made us."

Thought for the day

"You and I who have been born again are the temple of the Holy Spirit. God, the Holy Spirit resides in your temple. The Holy Spirit did not barge in as an unwanted guest. The Holy Spirit indwells you by invitation or not at all. The Holy Spirit must be invited in. When the Holy Spirit is invited in, He comes to make His abode with you.

When God created mankind, He created us a living soul; now watch this closely: The Word says, "...no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me."  John 14:6b There was an invitation from the Father to you and I or you and I could not have come to Jesus. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."  John 3:16 Again there was an invitation to every man, woman and child to come to Jesus. "Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."  Matthew 11:28 Again, by invitation Jesus calls you unto Himself.

Let this sink deep down into your soul.

If you have a relationship with God, it was by invitation - And because you were made in the image and likeness of God, if God is to have a relationship with you, it will have to be by invitation."

Thought for the day

"When you are awake, God is thinking of you. When you are asleep, God is thinking of you.

God-thinking is about understanding what God is thinking of you. Even when you are asleep, God is keeping your dreams, your hopes, your desires, your purpose, your calling alive. You cannot do it alone. You never could. Those who think they can accomplish anything without Christ at the center of their being have been blinded by the enemy. Jesus said, ..."for without me ye can do nothing." John 15:5

Thought for the day

"When you are born, you are very close to the heart of God. As you grow older, some of you rebel against the call to holiness. Some of you turn from the narrow path and get on the broad path and enjoy it. The broad path becomes familiar. Even if you are plagued with drug addiction or uncontrolled anger, even if the bottom is dropping out, even if everything is messed up, even if life has no real meaning, people will stay with the familiar.

The broad path offers answers to these predicaments: The broad path has plenty of drugs to keep you going. The broad path enables uncontrolled anger. When the bottom is dropping out, the broad path will be there to keep pushing you down a little further. If everything is messed up, the broad path will generate more of the same. If life has no meaning, the broad path will support that kind of thinking.

Whatever holds you back from having a pure and beautiful existence; it can be found readily available on the broad path. If you are looking for someone to agree with you when you are living a life without meaning, you can count on those on the broad path. But, not one day goes by, that God doesn't call out to everyone on the broad path, to turn around and go the other way. Jesus entreats you to come and follow Him and enjoy the blessings of the good life.

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." James 1:17 "

Excerpt from The Power of God Thinking by Keith C. Powell Copyright 2010

Thought for the day

"God-thinking believes - God is God, Savior, Master, King, Sovereign, Lord of everything. If you are looking for a relationship with God:
  • Where you can manipulate Him to give you only what you want.
  • Where you can do as you please, even if it is in direct conflict with God's will.
  • Where no commitment is needed.
  • Where you are in control.
  • Where you say "not thy will, but my will be done."
You are not going to like God-thinking. God-thinking is for those who have come to the place where they can say without a doubt that they have been doing it their way long enough - And found it most inadequate, ineffectual, powerless, impotent, unsuccessful, fruitless and un-fulfilling.

God-thinking is for those who want a better life than that. For those who want:
  • God's wisdom
  • God's knowledge
  • God's understanding
  • God's faith
  • God's experiences
  • God's mind.
Our new mantra should be "more of God and less of me."

Thought for the day

"Another way you can make sure that the truth you learn doesn't take - Just don't take God seriously.

Example: God is about to change your life. You are on the verge of receiving information from God that is life changing. God is reaching you and you are beginning to understand what He is telling you. God is discussing the next twenty five years of your life with you. You can almost hear the voice of God - and the phone rings. You take the call and miss the message from God. Don't be a cynic and make light of this simple example. It happens all the time. You just don't give God the pre-eminence.

God-thinking establishes a new rule in your life. You don't take another call when God is talking to you.  Think about it, if every time you called someone and they put you on hold, and sometimes forgot to even come back on line with you, would you keep calling that person? The Word of God says, "What is man, that thou art mindful of him?" Psalms 8:4. But we live it like this sometimes, "What is God, that I am mindful of Him?" If God treated you like you treat Him, you wouldn't like God very much.

Thought for the day

"Why can't you hold on to all the great teaching that has been brought your way? Because it did not take root. "...if the root be holy, so are the branches" Romans 11:16

God-thinking teaches you how to make sure that the truths that you receive, no longer slip through your hands. God-thinking receives the truths from God into the root of your being and imbeds them at the center of your soul. The truths of God become who you are. They steer your actions, your desires, your faith and your belief.

How do you get a truth imbedded in your soul? Well, first let me tell you how not to get a truth of God imbedded in your soul.
  • Just be indifferent about it.
  • Just shine it on.
  • Don't respond to it.
  • Don't share it with others.
  • Don't practice it. It will go away.
When God speaks to you and tells you what He wants from you and what He sees would be good for you,  just let it roll off our back, you won't have to worry about it sticking with you. It will just go away.

Indifference is like a disease that causes root rot. Indifference is the silent killer of your faith. To those who are indifferent to the Word of God, little by little everything they learn, everything they touch, ends up mishandled. James 1:8 "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways."

Thought for the day

"God-thinking is about changing the way ou think, by making changes at the very center of your being. What makes a root truth different than other truths, is that, other truths may affect you outwardly, (like adding a branch or a leaf or a flower), but root truths change you inwardly, at the center of your being, changing the whole person from the root, then to the trunk, the branch, the leaf and the flower.

God designed you to receive, understand and utilize every message - from His (Logos) God's written Word and His (Ramah) God's spoken Word. This written and spoken Word is translated from the pages of scripture into acts of love, acts of mercy, acts of peace, acts of forgiveness. For too long you have been hearing from God, but it is not changing you.

The best teaching that has ever graced the planet is being poured out onto God's people: in mega conferences, seminars, in the local church, small store front churches and one on one. You get excited!!!, you are sure that you have heard some great truth at these conferences, seminars, the local church, small store front churches and one on one, but it doesn't stick around for the long haul.

The truth that you heard didn't penetrate the inner soul of your being, the root of your faith and then re-create who youare. It doesn't stick because it was never made part of your root system, your inner most being. The truth just lingers on the outside and makes you frustrated, because:
  • you can see that you received the answers you were looking for
  • you received the power you wanted
  • you could taste the fulfillment of your dreams
  • you heard the words that heal you
but you just couldn't hold onto it. You claim it, you get it in your hands, but it slips away when you are tested or when you are put through the fire. Sometimes it slips away on the ride home.

Thought for the day

"All of us have a background - (previous knowledge & previous experiences that makeup our whole self). When you are exposed to new wisdom or new light, new understanding comes in. You add this new knowledge to your existing knowledge base like a new branch, leaf or flower. You may learn a profound truth, but added to your existing knowledge base, it becomes like a branch a leaf or a flower in your experience. It is kept external and utilized as if it were an entity of its own.

Example: Let's say you learned, that the Apostle Paul, after he was blinded while on the road to Damascus, had to wait 3 days in blindness before God let him have his sight back. That truth might make you think about your own personal experiences and it might make you think that maybe you are blind to something and that you must wait for 3 days or 3 weeks or some determined amount of time, waiting for God to open your eyes. Adding this knowledge to your knowledge base would be like adding a branch or a leaf or a flower, but it would have little or no effect on the center of your being.

Let's say you read a verse of scripture like, "obey them that have rule over you." Let's say you've never quite understood it, but today it comes to life and becomes clear. This truth is added to your knowledge base like a branch, a leaf or a flower. But this truth will not effect the center of your being. The root of the tree will not be effected by adding new truths to your existing knowledge base.

Stay with me, this is good stuff.
Let's say you have a computer system. It is a 250 gigabyte, 3.6 gig system with .5 gig of RAM. You go to buy software and you find, just the right software package. This software has just what you want. So you turn the box over to read the system requirements, and the program requires 25 megabytes of space (you have that), it requires a 1.5 gigabyte processor, (yours is a 3.6 gig), and it requires 1 gig of RAM and we only have 1. You hacew to walk away without purchasing this new software, even though it has everything you want, because it will not operate on your existing operating system. What would you have to do if you really wanted this particular software? You would have to upgrade your operating system. God-thinking is about upgrading your operating system so that what you need from God, you are able to receive from God.

Thought for the day

"God-thinking goes deep into the center of your soul.  It affects every aspect of your human condition - The Body - Mind - Spirit - Soul.  God-thinking works this way.  Unlike adding knowledge to your existing knowledge base a branch, a leaf or a flower - God-thinking goes to the root.  The root is that place of your being where all else comes out from it.  God-thinking is about getting the root system of your being in agreement with the mind of Christ."

Thought for the day

"There's only one path that leads to life, and that is, the narrow path. Don't be confused by the rhetoric of those on this broad path. They are not the experts of the narrow path. They don't even know where it leads.

Most people who argue against God the Father, the only begotten Son of God and the Holy Spirit have never met God the Father, Jesus the Son or the Holy Spirit.
  • We don't blame those who have not met the Master.
  • We don't hammer them with truths that they cannot comprehend.
  • We don't treat them with malice.
  • We don't judge them.
  • We love them and reveal Christ to them by loving them in a way they have not known.
  • We carefully minister the truth to them.
  • We pray for them.
  • We go to God in supplication and get answers.
  • We intercede for every person on the broad path. But we don't follow them. We cannot. We are not on the same path, nor are we in the same direction.
God calls us all from the broad path, to turn around and start heading the other way. Jesus says in Mark 1:15 "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel." When Jesus says, "repent ye." He is literally saying turn around and head in the opposite direction of the one you are on.

"Are you following God's design in your life? If you are following God's design, you should rejoice that God has revealed this to you. If you are not following God's design in your life, you can.  You can start where you left off, or you can start a fresh new life in Christ right now.

God-thinking requires that you think about God's design and determine if you are aligned with His design in your life."

Thought for the day

"God has ordained for us, by His foreknowledge the very best plan possible, one designed just for you and for me. God knows when and where we are going to decide to follow Him.
  • God knows when and where you are going to stop driving this ship.
  • God knows when and where you are going to surrender to Him and follow His design.
When you get a clear picture of God's design for your life, you want life to be His way.
You see your purpose by God's design, when you want what God has purposed.
  • When you seek what God has blessed.
  • When you hope for what God has placed on your path.
  • When you go where God has called you to go.
  • When you are who God called you to be.
Are you hearing me?
  • When your goals are God breathed.
  • When you desire what God has foreordained.
  • When it's your dream to do what God is doing.
  • When your vision is God's vision.
When it becomes natural to think God thoughts, the burden and the weight of this life will grow strangely dim.
  • The problems
  • The financial pressure
  • The long hours
  • The heartaches
  • The problems
  • The past
  • he stress and strain
  • The pain
All grow strangely dim and less significant.

I can say without any doubt that God's design for your life and mine is a beautiful thing. God has paved a way for you and me that is far above and beyond anything we could dream or desire. God has designed you and I with a purpose that must be apprehended and understood by faith. God-thinking believes that God's design for us produces God's purpose in us."

Thought for the day

"When we trust in a lie or an untruth, something not ordained by God, we run the risk of missing God's intent for us. We run the risk of mapping out our own design. We run the risk of making a plan that God cannot sanctify.
  • Starting a business that God does not bless.
  • Marrying a man or woman without God's approval.
  • Hanging with people that worship God in vain.
  • Making our own rules and regulations that take away from the freedom we have in Christ., burdening others with our own personal biases, bents and idiosyncrasies.
God designed us to listen to Him.
  • You were designed to receive new light - every time you open the Word of God, you should receive revelation.
  • You were designed to study the Word to show yourself "approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15
  • You were designed to be called out from among the world, "...know ye not that friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God" James 4:4
  • You were designed to live a holy life, "Having these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." 2 Corinthians 7:1
  • You were designed to testify that Jesus is Lord. Acts 20:24
  • You were designed to obey God. Zechariah 6:15
  • You were designed to pray. Matthew 6:6
  • You were designed to intercede for others. Jeremiah 42:2
  • You were designed to worship. John 4:20-24
  • You were designed to praise. Psalm 7:17
  • You were designed to supplicate. 2 Chronicles 6:39
  • You were designed to respond to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Luke 11:13
  • You were designed to operate in faith. Hebrews 6:12
  • You were designed to read the Word of God. 2 Timothy 2:15
  • You were designed to hear the voice of God. "Behold, I stand at the door , and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me." Revelation 3:20 And again Jesus says, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me:" John 10:27
  • You were designed to do the will of God, "Not everyone that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven." Matthew 7:21
  • You were designed to believe God. John 3:16
  • You were designed to exercise your free will and to do with it what pleases the Lord. Hebrews 11:6
  • You were designed to love one another. John 13:34
  • You were designed to be prosperous and in good health, "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in good health, even as thy soul prospereth." 3 John 2.
  • You were designed to please God, not just yourself. Romans 8:8-9
  • You were designed to do good to others. Romans 13:3
  • You were designed to serve one another. Galatians 5:13
  • You were designed to serve God. Hebrews 12:28
God-thinking steers you to get a vision of God's design for your life. You believe what God has said in His Word. You don't get off on our own private mission, redesigning God's plan to suit yourself.  You learn to agree with God."

Thought for the day

"The other reason why there is so much rebellion when we talk about doing those things that please God.

2 They believe a lie.

Just a couple of examples: Remember when Peter was in the presence of Jesus and Peter was talking about what he would do for Jesus. Let's listen to the scripture. Mark 14:26-31 "And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. V27 And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the Shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. V28 But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee. V29 But Peter said unto Him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I. V30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. V31 But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all."

Jesus just got finished telling them what scripture saith, "All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the Shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered." And again Jesus said, "Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice." Peter believed a lie instead of the Master's voice. He believed what he had told himself instead of what Jesus told him. There=s a lot of that going on today. People are making up their mind based on what's in their mind instead of what God is saying in their mind.

Remember how Paul (Saul) was evangelized. Paul (Saul) was true to his religion. He believed fervently that to destroy Christians was the honorable way to serve God. Was he right? No. He believed a lie. He believed what religion was teaching at the time. He forsook the Word in lieu of religious security, security of being with the most influential group at the time. How did God get Paul's attention? He knocked him down and blinded him for a time. Paul had no choice but to be led by others for a time. Paul believed a lie. He acted upon it. His entire experience with God had been built on a lie. Had he not had the Damascus road experience and heard the voice of Jesus, he would have continued on his path throughout his life."

Thought for the day

"God designed it all. God is the Way, the Truth and the Life. God has revealed a plan and a purpose for our life. AAnd we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28

Why is there so much rebellion when we talk about doing those things that please God. We have in our society today an entire constituency of those who claim Christ but they have no desire to follow Christ - no inner inclination to follow God's design for their lives and no plans to get started. There's a couple of reasons why there is so much rebellion.

1 They believe in vain

1 Corinthians 15:1-2 "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; V2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain." Matthew 15:8-9 "This people draweth nigh unto Me with their mouth, and honoureth Me with their lips; but their heart is far from Me. V9 But in vain they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."

It is interesting. This word vain means to, (manipulate to no purpose, an unsuccessful search). "In vain they do worship Me - They manipulate me to no purpose and cannot find me. Some people believe in vain because they have been taught to believe in vain or they have established their own god and worship him. It is easier that way. One look at world religion as a whole and we can see clearly that many people worship God in vain."

Thought for the day

"For the lost the Word reveals to them a holy God, full of love and concern for His creation. It shows them they way, the truth and the life. It reveals the most profound truth ever thought: "That God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

God draws men and women, teens and children to Himself by revelation of Himself. You and I were drawn to God by the power of His Word. "No man can cometh to Me, except the Father which hath sent Me draw Him: and I will raise him up at the last day. V45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto Me." John 6:44-45

For the saved the Word reveals to us a holy God, full of love and concern for His creation. It shows us the way, the truth and the life. It reveals us the most profound truths ever thought. God designed His Word for anyone and everyone who will believe it. But for the born again believer, the one to whom is given the indwelling Holy Spirit, the Word is full of easy to understand, powerful, life changing truths.
  • God speaks to you through His Word.
  • God reveals His design for your life.
  • God reveals Himself openly and unobstructed.
  • God reveals who you are in Christ.
  • God tells you the things that matter in life.
  • God shows you what to believe.
  • God tells you how to receive faith.
  • God tells you how to be faithful.
  • God teaches you what is pure and true, honest and just, what is lovely.
  • God shows you how to be kind, and how to be gentle, how to live by faith and how to stay healthy.
  • God gives you example after example of how to treat one another, how to be humble, how to love others, how to give and how much to give.
  • God reveals the beginning, the time you now live in and the future. God reveals it all.
God-thinking gets your mind in line with God's Word so that what God has said becomes what you believe and what you believe is what God has said."

Thought for the day

"God-thinking produces fruit. Truly when you understand the Word, your mind and your heart are opened up. You do things you never thought you would do. You go places you never thought you would go. You say things you never thought you would say. Because when the Word of God is opened up by revelation to your mind and to your heart, you want to respond. You want God to speak to you and reveal high and lofty thoughts of the divine. You want to open your bible and discover new truths; not new as in never discovered: but new to you - new to your mind - new to your heart - new to your spirit.
  • It's not that God hasn't revealed it all in His Logos (the written Word) and by His Ramah (the spoken Word).
  • It''s not that God hasn't prepared you for receiving His truth.
  • It's not that you aren't capable of understanding all that God has for you.
It's that you haven't received it all.  You haven't received all that God intends to reveal to you.

Thought for the day

"God-thinking is about trusting the whole Word of God. God-thinking is about thinking God thoughts, God thoughts that build up and encourage; thoughts that inspire, thoughts that transcend your emotions, thoughts that forgive, thoughts that empower. God-thinking comes from hearing God thoughts, hearing pure speech, hearing kind words; believing words, words that build up, words that lift up, words that bless, words that encourage, words that inspire, words that forgive, words that empower. What do you think God-thinking produces?

God designed actions, pure speech, kindness, unwavering belief, healthy bodies, clean minds, pure thoughts, things that are true, things that are honest, things that are just, things that are lovely. God-thinking produces fruit. And the kind of fruit that God-thinking produces is the God kind of fruit. Hear the word of Jesus as He reveals the parable of the sower. The parable was really about what happened to those who received the Word."

Matthew 13:18-23 "Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. V19 When anyone heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. V20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon (at once) with joy receiveth it; V21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. V22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. V23 But he that received seed into good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

Thought for the day

"God-thinking believes the whole Word of God (Period). We find what we need to live unto God in the whole of scripture (Period). I say this because even Paul himself could see what was happening to some of the people that were around him at the time of his ministry.

"Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. V13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?" 1Co. 1:12-13

And of course the answer is, NO. Jesus is your all in all and the entire text of scripture points to Jesus. I apologize to no one for believing, trusting, teaching and preaching the whole Word of God."

Thought for the day

In the presence of God:
"God has the key, but you can get out any time you want to, but you don't want to. God hears your every word and God speaks a Word to you. You go in with questions and complaints and you come out with answers and a gift. No one leaves the presence of God without a word and a gift. After you have been in this place. you want to go back again. God purifies your everyday experience. You think about the holiness of God. You ponder high and lofty thoughts and contemplate your next encounter with the Almighty.

You lose our desire for the empty promises of this world. God's grace becomes sufficient for you. You come away with something you didn't go there with. You get the answers you are looking for.

Thought for the day

"I want you to get a feel for the language that gets men and women in this place behind the veil.

1 Kings 8:22-60 "And Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven: V23 and he said, LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart: V30 And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place: and when thou hearest, forgive. V37 If there be in the land famine, if there be pestilence, blasting, mildew, locust, or if there be caterpillar; if their enemy besiege them in the land of their cities; whatsoever plague, what soever sickness there be; V38 What prayer and supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, which shall know every man the plague of his heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house: V39 Then hear from heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of the children of men;) V49 Then hear thou their prayer and their supplication in heaven thy dwelling place, and maintain their cause, V50And forgive thy people that have sinned against thee, and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee, and give them compassion before them who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them: V51 For they be thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron: V52 That thine eyes may be open unto the supplication of thy servant, and unto the supplication of thy people Israel, to hearken unto them in all that they call for unto thee. V54 And it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven. V59 And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before the LORD, be nigh unto the LORD our god day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of His people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require: V60 That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else."

1 Kings 9:3a "And the LORD appeared to Solomon the second time, as He appeared unto him in Gibeon. V3 And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before Me..."

Psalm 30:1-8 "I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. V2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. V3 O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. V4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness. V5 For His anger endureth but a moment; in His favour is life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. V6 And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. V7 LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong; thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled. V8 I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication"

Psalm 55:1-2 "Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication. V2 Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint and make noise."

Psalm 142:1-2 "I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication. V2 I poured out my complaint before Him; I shewed Him my trouble.
Daniel 6:10-11 "Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being opened in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. V11 Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God."

Daniel 9:17-22 "Now, therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord=s sake V18 O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies. V19 O LORD, hear; O LORD, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, On my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name. V20 And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God; V21 Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.  V22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding."

Acts 1:10-14 "And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; V11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. V12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a Sabbath days journey. V13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. V14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brethren." Ten days they sought the mind of God. Ten days in prayer until they received their answers.

Ephesians 6:18 "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;" My God, this is a call to you. This is a call for men and women of faith. This is for those who want more of God and less of everything else, more than blessings, more than prosperity, more than deliverance, more than healing, more than anything. This is for those who want to be locked in a prayer closet with God."

Thought for the day

"Remember I said this message was for those who want to experience God in the most intimate way possible. You want to know how to get into this place, in the presence of God, in the inner court, the holy of holies, that place where God is God and you are in Him; the place can be anywhere, but you get into this place by supplication. I asked God, "can't you give me a better buzz word than supplication?" And God said to me, "you want a better word than, the place where you go in the spirit and stay there, bound together with Me, until the urgent requests that are on your heart have all been thoroughly dealt with and the answers you need have all been thoroughly revealed, the place where you come wanting and leave filled? You want a different word?"

Forgive me LORD. For I am foolish and proud. No I don't want a different word. Supplication is that word. Supplication is a complex word and comes from a combination of five Greek words, that simply mean: the place where you go in the spirit and stay there, bound together with God, until the urgent requests that are on your heart have all been thoroughly dealt with and the answers you need have all been thoroughly revealed, the place where you come wanting and leave filled?

Supplication is used 60 times in the old and new testament. Almost everyone who came into the presence of God, came via supplication. Moses, David, Solomon, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Daniel, Ezekiel, Peter, Paul, You and I come into this special place by supplication also.

There's not a lot of talk about supplication because supplication takes effort. Supplication means travail and patience, sweat and tears. Supplication means finding time to go to God, not setting time limits for how long God is permitted to commune with you. Supplication means setting aside your plans just long enough to discuss them with the plan Maker.

It may take only seconds, it may take hours, it may take longer, but nobody rushes God behind the veil.

  • When you go there, supper had better already be made or it might not get made.
  • When you go there, you turn off your mobile phone.
  • When you go there, you go with reverence and awe.
But you were made for such a time as this. You were created to be in this place and be emptied of self and full of God."
