Bible Life Q & A - I worry about losing my salvation because I just can't seem to live up to biblical standards.

The entire concept about worrying about losing your salvation has been taught to you and you have been conditioned to feel this way.  A sound understanding of salvation would eliminate your doubt.  Think about it, salvation is the most precious gift given from God to man.  Would God leave it to chance that once you became a child of God, you would have to worry about God taking it away, and then worried about whether you can ever be good enough to get it back and then lose it again and then earn it back?  Forget it.

Salvation is a gift from God that is given to any and all that place their faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior.  Simple understanding that you have sinned against God and the only way to pay for that sin is for Christ to provide the payment.  First of all what payment could you make that would meet holy criteria?  You would have to live sinless and then offer yourself to God as a sacrifice for sin.  That's what Jesus did for you.  And that is the only payment, propitiation required.  You will never be good enough to walk through this life and earn salvation nor will you ever be good enough to walk through the door that separates this earthly life from heaven and just trounce in as if you made it without Christ.

There is only one way into the kingdom and that is through Christ.  You cannot earn salvation, it can only be imparted unto you by the Holy Spirit.  You do not have to be perfected, mature or even a really good person to be saved from your sin/s, but you do have to accept the provision made for your sin, i. e., the effectual work that Christ did on the cross.

You cannot lose your salvation once you have been saved, but you can believe in vain that you are saved.  This is not because God made a mistake in the way that He planned it all, nor is it because God wanted to make it hard to find Him.  It is because of the fall of man.

All of the difficulties surrounding the issue of finding God are caused by religion.  World religions have evolved over the years to include all kinds of myths and fantasies about God and to remove and/or reduce Christ to just a good man.  Most world religions acknowledge that Jesus did exist, but the efficacy of His life has been diluted or utterly eradicated.  Man has, through religion, moved away from God, not the other way around.  Man has altered and corrupted the gospel and perverted it to make allowances for their own brand of god.  Don't think they were on their own for the last few millennia thinking of ways to get rid of God, satan has played a huge role in influences the simple truths about God into a perverted and unholy plethora of religious thought.

The simplicity of God's message to mankind has never changed and God's acceptance of any man, woman or child that turns from their own made up religion is still in order.  God's grace is open to all people from any religious background.  Think about it, no one was a Christian before they were born again.

As far a losing your salvation, you cannot lose your salvation.  Once you are born again by faith in Jesus Christ you are sealed by the Holy Spirit.  You have been redeemed, regenerated, a new creation, justified, washed, adopted into the kingdom of God and nothing, not even you can change that.  Oh' I can hear the clamour of those who disagree.  Take it up with God.

When you are born again, you are a new creation, incapable of returning to the old creation, but you are still capable of sinning against God.  The propensity to sin is lessened as you yield more of yourself to God and your desire to sin is lessened more and more as you develop a lifestyle of holy living, but your ability to sin will stay with you until you die.  I know there are those who argue this point as well, but how pompous and arrogant can a person be to think that they have become divine.  That happened during the Roman rule and throughout generations there have been those who thought they were divine; there are even those who claim they are god today, but this kind of foolishness is just another example of the depravity of man, not his glorious ascension into divinity.

Believe God.  Read the Word and don't have it interpreted for you and your eyes will be open to just how great God really is.  God wants you to become His child and friend, not burdened by religious rhetoric.  Read the Word and believe the Word and you can be set free from the ties and the strings, the rules and the very small box that religion puts God in. When God gives you eternal life through Christ, it's eternal, not subject to change in status, not subject to behavior, not subject to Church attendance, not subject to tithing, not subject to taking communion or the eucharist, not subject to anything.  That's how God does it.

Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.  Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.  But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;  Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;"  Romans 3:19-25

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  Romans 10:9-10

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.  1 Peter 1:3-5

"That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  John 3:15-16

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:  That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.  Romans 8:1-4

Believe what you read in the Word and all will be well in your soul.
"And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.  Eph 4:30
